The Year of the Timber Rattler

Snakes are a part of the outdoors and hunting but I can't remember a year that I've saw so many timber rattlers. Couldn't count all I've seen this year on both hands and seeing 1 or 2 is average year for me. Maybe the high water table in mtns is driving them out on to higher ground? Here's one I mangled with bushhog that had been relentlessly robbing a bunny nest.

Dang. I really thought they just ate one little critter at a time. Good kill.

I haven't seen any snakes so far this year. Then again I haven't seen any rabbits. Maybe the snakes are busy eating the rabbits.

That's was one fat rattlesnake. I, too, didn't know that they would eat more than one thing at a time. He must have been real hungry.

Last year I had a snake crawl up the siding on my house and get to an overhanging ledge above my front door - eating a whole nest of swallows.

He literally couldn't move he was so full.

I had a copperhead bushhogged in my foodplot last year with rabbit feet sticking out the side as well.

That's funny, my first thought was that they were not lucky rabbit feet for him....Scott

Be careful out there this year they are everywhere.
