I live 2 hrs away from trout streams, so will try bream with fly rod. can you tell me name of a few flies for bream. Most
will be a mix of both small lake and small river, both are close to home.
thanks for reply---------AL

Poppers, black ant, Dave's hopper, cricket. When on the beds I have found they will take most anything. But top water flies above are very exciting.

My favorite for bedding 'gills in the willow roots is a black Wooly Booger tied on a light wire cricket hook. It will inevitably snag a root, but a steady tug will straighten it out enough to release without having to break it off or worse, move into the beds to loosen it.

Poppers - Boglebugs are my favorite - in white, chartreuse or black.
And, when they are not biting on top, Rubber Legged Dragons in olive and black.

You can even double up by using the popper as a dropper, with the RLD hanging off the bend of the popper's hook on about 18" of fluorocarbon. You'll get worn out taking 'em off the hook.
