The Tower of Babel

In modern times we have built sky scrapers, traveled in space and to the moon. The Tower of Babel can't be a literal story? Since, we know we can go as far and high as we can from the earth.

Gone But Not Forgotten
Babel = confusion. Who is the father of confusion? They were trying to build a "stairway to heaven" instead of worshipping God. That's my take anyway - not sure if it was an actual structure. Some of our scholars can prolly do better.

John Walton suggests the tower was built, not so man could go to heaven, but so God could come down from heaven. That is a temple imagery. The temple, just like the garden was to represent a dwelling place for God ...a place where man and God could meet.. A place where the heavens and earth met.

The problem they faced was this temple was not sanctioned nor sanctified by God.
