If you have the skills, I would say make one; maple and hickory make a beautiful, sturdy board.

Cutting board on mobile island
We just got done with our house a few months ago and the only two things I really wanted in our kitchen was a cutting board on a mobile island and walnut countertops. Mine is made from mahogany and maple.

John Boos boards have been working really well for me.
Hoping to slice & dice on them for decades more and then give them to my son to enjoy. Hoping he'll get pleasure out of knowing many a meal was made for him using them.

I'd like to have me a custom cutting board made by someone. Always wanted one, just never bit the bullet. I've just got a bamboo board, but I'm impressed with it.
