Out this afternoon with Jared and Ryan...two guys that will have you laughing most of the time. They wanted to work on drop shot fishing some and see how I fish Lanier.
Got started around 1:45pm.....off the water when the storms started coming in around 6:30pm. First stop was a hump - nice fish on the spybait....it was a one and done kind of thing. Kept bouncing from humps and long points the entire time while they worked on the spybait and drop shot. We lost at the minimum 10 fish hooked but still ended up boating over 25 for the few hours. One fish - Jared's first on the spybait...broke off at the knot - and guess who tied it
Yeah, I caught heck all day for that one.
Boy it was hot....right in the middle of the day....not pulling water until 5:10 today for 2 hours....so we only had a good hour of current in the lake. Just goes to show you that if you find the right depth range, you can still catch'em good. Fruity Worms Ruled again on the drop shot with some Robo's mixed in.
I think we only had 1-2 dinks...the rest were solid fish with some good ones mixed in...and like I said, had some good ones on that pulled off. One key is water depth....I saw that thermocline setting in today....looked like around 25' - 30'....which is pretty normal for this time of year on Lanier. Keep that in mind when you're looking for brush and places to fish.
