Deer took a hard leap off to the side and goes into death run, he loses blood trail and keeps thinking deer is still travelling same direction.

Have had it happen before a few times. Go back to last blood and start doing a circular search and find the deer piled up in thick bush 30-40 yards from last blood that was seen on blood trail.
