Went to the reefs yesterday by myself to mess around with some sheep and ended up with the limit and a few bonus black drum.
I believe the transition has really taken place now that we had this full moon. Much less sea bass and better size sheep (which will only improve through March, or should improve) was what I saw yesterday. The tide was absolutely screaming which I think why there was such a picky bite. I was pulling one or two fish off every drop I fished. When you are fishing big tides on the reefs, GET OUT OF THE CURRENT. If there is a steak buffet I'm going to be in hog heaven and pig out. If there is a ton of resistance and I have to burn 3,000 calories to get there, then that 2,000 calorie steak isn't worth it. Fish are like us, they want more for less. So, get them fiddlers and shoot them to the bottom and hold on.
Hope ya'll have a great weekend. As always, if you have any questions please ask. This forum helped me out so much when I first started fishing. Looking at you WharfRat and mWeathers.
