Consumer beware: Diamond Naturals pet food recall

Consumers are being put on red alert this week as Diamond Pet Foods has decided to voluntarily recall Diamond Naturals pet food Lamb Meal & Rice dry dog food.
The food may be infected with the salmonella virus and could make dogs very sick with fever and abdominal pain. Much like food poisoning in humans.
According to CBS News, "A statement from the company Friday said no illnesses have been reported and no other Diamond products are affected."
The possibly contaminated food has been distributed to 12 states, not including Tennessee, but has been sold to many other Southern states. Tennessee consumers are warned that those buyers could have transported bags to their local pet food supplier. Nearby states knowns to have purchased Diamond Naturals are Kentucky, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina.
Reports warn that "Customers who have purchased the following Diamond Naturals Lamb & Rice products should stop feeding it to their pets and discard it."

The following foods are included in the recall:
- 6-pound bag with the production code DLR0101D3XALW and best before Jan. 4, 2013;
- 20-pound bag with the production code DLR0101C31XAG and best before Jan. 3, 2013;
- 40-pound bag with the production code DLR0101C31XMF and best before Jan. 3, 2013;
- 40-pound bag with the production code DLR0101C31XAG and best before Jan. 3, 2013;
- 40-pound bag with the production code DLR0101D32XMS and best before Jan. 4, 2013.
