Got it done in south Tx

I got to Uvalde, Tx at the landowners home around 1:30pm Friday. The landowner dropped me off at 3:30 and I was hunting Rio's in South Texas. The wind were extremely strong with gusts 25-30 mph so I decided to setup some decoys on a road where I saw some sign and call every 20-30 mins. I never use decoys and bought a Jake Mobile just for this hunt in fear of the wind. At about 5:00pm I got one to gobble that was within 75 yards of me and he is coming. He was coming up the road dead to my right (I am right handed and can't shoot in that direction) he got within 35 yard, saw the decoys and spooked. I am glad I figured this out on the first evening as they never left the truck again.

Now Saturday, again very high winds, zero gobbles from the roost. So I walk around till 10 to try to strike one up with no success. Around 10:30am it begins to rain so I get in a blind that was in the area the bird gobbled the evening before. With rain and high wind I decided to sit in the blind and call every 30mins until 5:00 to see if he shows. At 4:45 I see him at 125 yard by him self and he goes into strut, I gave him a set of yelps on my slate call and he came in on a string to 40 yards where he got a face full of Hevi #6's.

9 1/4 beard
1" sharp spurs

I could not be happier and already have a place on the wall for him, well worth the 1700 mile round trip for this GA boy.
