In the same price range, I would look at a Samick Sage. I believe that to be a much better bow than the PSE.

My wife is just starting as well.
We got a PSE. We got a Sage...... Sage X 4.
(We also got a custom from Longbow Dave, which got em both beat)

For a first time shooter I recommend you try to pick up something used and cheap. Let her learn with that and later you can pick out the right bow for her. She will see other ladies shooting at 3D shoots and most will be glad to let her try theirs out.
If the samick or the PSE don't fit her just right it could minimize her enjoyment and turn her off to shooting.
