Take a Warrior West Point - June 3- Volunteers Needed

Guys (and girls), the Take a Warrior fishing event is once again being held on West Point Lake on June 3. They are in need of boat captains to help take these guys out. It is an absolute great event and you will not regret taking part in it. You can fish for anything you would like to and it doesn't matter if you can take 1 person or 4. There is a light breakfast at sign-in and Highland Marina provides and excellent lunch for everyone at the conclusion. This is the 3rd year I have volunteered and I have had the pleasure of meeting some great people and giving back just a little bit for these service members.

Here is the link. If you can help, please email Rebecca Fink with the COE. The email is in the link.

I think Worley and I can both make this happen together in my boat. I'm checking calendar as well.

I plan to try and catch bait around Highland Marina with a green light around 5am before the tournament. I'm terrible with a cast net, so anybody that claims to throw a good net is welcome to join me. PM with your cell number, if interested.

Had a blast at TWF West Pt this past Saturday! My vet, Brandon (USAF), had never been in a boat or held a fishing pole. By the end of the day, he was casting a country mile, working a jerk bait, and even drove the boat!

P.S. To the old lady who continued to yell at me from her porch for casting a net around her houseboat slip, even after I apologized and explained that I was preparing to take a disabled veteran fishing, YOUR FREEDOM IS NOT FREE!!:flag:

Let me guess.....end boat...Ms. Pat. She's a character. :bounce::bounce:

It was a great event for sure. I had David and Jeanie aboard. David had fished with us last year and Jeanie had participated the last couple years but never had much luck. We changed that up for her. We were on fish pretty much all morning and probably ended with 50-60 fish. Jeanie took big striper honors and got a cool trophy to take home. Look forward to doing it again next year!

Looks like a good time! Way to put them on some fish Dustin!

Wanted to do this again this year but had some family commitments to tend to that day.

Yep, the lady in the end houseboat does not take kindly to the splashing or clanking of cast net weighs early in the AM! Have never experienced it personally, but have witnessed it a time or two, and heard about it for years. I net shad in there occasionally, but more or less avoid that specific location.......

Yep, that was her - last houseboat on the end of the row. Since she didn't accept my apology and explanation, I threw another half-dozen times to get what I needed. :bounce: She's a real piece of work. :crazy:

Furthest boat with night lights for her pet crappies?!

Besides the fact that you're doing something for a great cause, it IS public water. When one rents a slip, doesn't one assume activities such as cast netting/fishing will take place near your "property"?

Unless you're awful at throwing a cast net and hitting her boat, I'd say continue! lol :stir:

Looks like a great time was had by all. It's a great thing you're doing and some great folks you're meeting and fishing with.

While I am no fisherman, I've sponsored a WW hog hunt annually in Johnson County, Ga. since 2013 and it is a really great time.

Thank you again for what you're doing for our Veterans!:flag::flag::flag:
