Rope cocking device

My wife shoots a crossbow. I was cocking the bow the other day and at about half draw, the plastic hooks on the cocking device gave way. They did not break. I tried cocking it again very slowly and I could actually see them "straightening" out. Is this normal? Do these devices need to be replaced every couple years? Just curious if anyone else ever had this issue. My first thought was the serving on the string was broken, but I checked and it is intact. Thanks.

I have a Parker device and a Ten Point device and neither have any weakness at all.

Some of the less expensive ones aren’t made as well as others. Get you a Red Hot roller rope cocker or an Excalibur rope cockers and you will have a nice strong rope cocker that will last you for years
