Default 7mm08

Just bought a new Browning X-bolt stainless stalker the other day and while I have yet to shoot it yet the gun is awesome. Went with the 7mm08 because I wanted a short action caliber and have always thought I would like the caliber. Anyone else here shoot/hunt with the 7-08. let me know what you think and what you have hunted with it. thanks.

Love my 7mm08!!! Just hunted deer with it so far, but we will see what the future holds! I have 2 loads for it right now. One very hot 150 gr. Scirocco and a light recoiling 120 gr TTSX for the kids to shoot! You'll love it, its a great caliber!

I've got it in a Browning BLR & have not complaints with it. I shoot the Winchester Supreme Ballistic Silvertips (Nosler Ballistic Tips) in 140grain.

My wife has a youth Model 7 in 7mm-08 and loves it. She has taken several whitetails with it. When she doesn't carry it I do, light weigh shoots a good bullet with lots of knock down power.

I have both a Tikka T3 Lite & Weatherby Vanguard in 7mm-08.

The Weatherby has been my got to rifle for my evening hunts because of the 50mm scope. Its an absolute tack driver w/ Hornady's Light Magnum loads. The Tikka is still new to me but love the smooth action & adjustable trigger. I just need to get a second magazine for it.

I bought my first 7mm-08 21 years ago and I love the round. To date I have killed over 50 deer with it and would not hesitate to carry it anywhere to hunt. I shoot 120 grain for whitetail and 140 grain for mule deer and black bear. Buy you some brass and some dies and start working up loads.

I have shot 58 deer and a bear with a 7mm-08. I have a Browning BLR and a Rem 700 Mtn Rifle in this caliber. I enjoy the light recoil with the lighter guns; I mainly hunt in the mountains. As far as my preference on loads, I would avoid core-lokts. They don't seem to group tight on the range, and the past few critters I shot with them I experienced the bullet not holding together nor passing through, even without hitting major bone. Always seem like I had to track alot, so much so that I almost gave up on the caliber a decade ago. Winchester power-points gave me appreciable accuracy and excellent penetration, but they don't leave large entry or exit holes, thus making tracking harder than it should be. My two favorite loads to date are Winchester ballistic silvertip, they often don't pass through but whatever they hit just drops in its tracks. Seldom has anything I shot with these loads took another step. My other choice is hornady light mag 139 gr sp's. Ditto for ballistic silvertip except for large entry and exit holes, and whatever they touch just falls over. Better bloods trails if you shoot a super-hero deer that doesn't drop. Hope this helps.

I just got my 2nd 7mm-08, a Ruger MKll. It shoots 3/4" groups with my handloaded 140gr Nosler BT's. I havent got to really shoot my favorite bullet in it yet(139gr Hornady SST) You won't be disappointed!

Last gun I bought was a T/C Pro Hunter in 7mm-08, and like previously stated, more than enough for any task in the woods of Georgia!

I love mine and shoot 140gr Sierra Gamekings. However, If I shot factory ammo it would be Federal Fussion. I have shot those out of several rifles (.243, 7-08 & 270) and they perform very well for me.

enjoy that new rifle. Put some good glass on top...I like my Leupolds a lot but I love my Nikon Monarchs.

And I also have a Model 7 and a Mt. Rifle in the 7mm-08. Love both of them with the ammo mentioned by Rayno.

Mine is a Model 7 XCR. I have a buddy load Hornady 139 grain SST's. I love the weapon because it's light and does not kill the shoulder to shoot. I just started hunting with it last year and shot two deer. Both dropped dead in their tracks.

I took the deer and coyote in my avatar with it.

This year I bought my daughter the Rem Model 7 in 7mm-08. I am currently working on loads for it now. I am using Winchester 760 powder with the Nozzler 140gr BT bullet.
