Choke rings/grooves?

Just got a new Sumtoy choke in for shooting Federal Hvy 7s. Looking inside the choke I see grooves cut longway but also see rings cut around the inside of choke on the end that screws in.
Just curious if others have rings cut inside their choke tube.
Will it effect the wadding?

The rings are an optical illusion.

They do help in assessing the concentricity of the bore.

Idk, but could it be forcing cones incrementally reducing the diameter of the bore before it reaches the fullest choke zone of the tube?

William builds those chokes and calls them wad stoppers I don't know how it all works but I do know he builds some tight chokes.

And you will need to clean the choke if you notice the pattern open up, those rings will get plastic on them. This has been my experience with his turkey shoot chokes.
