Georgia Pine Snake - how rare is this snake

Hey Fishunt - You are correct on your son's snake in my opinion - eastern ratsnake. The ratsnakes (genus Pantherophis) are related to bull/gopher/pine snakes (genus Pituophis) and do look kinda similar.

Thanks Cherokee76.

Either way, it was a beautiful snake and in the prime of its life.

Gently caught and released.

Yep, the snake your son is holding is an intergrade between a black and gray color-phase rat snake.
