My son had serious back surgery at the age of 23. His girlfriend since 19 years old, now wife stood by his side the whole way. Lots of young girls woulda run.(so I've been told) He had to move back home for two years for recovery. She moved back with her parents and came everyday after work to take care of him. He lost his job as a nurse. She stood by his side with us through it all. That's love. They were finally able to get married last October and have a house nicer than ours. He never gave up and is making a good living.

GREAT story, I am glad for them and you!!

Marriage is like going to the casino. You go in excited and optimistic, but end up leaving all drunk, broke, and talking to yourself.

Yes, but sometime you hit the jackpot and man what a rush.
Been with mine 22 years now and happy as can be. Yes, we have separate accounts and buy what we can each afford with our own money.
We still discuss big purchases in advance. In fact she prods me to buy stuff that I want when I hesitate to take the plunge.

Nope not what I wanted. Had an incident this morning that may have broke the camels back. I like to chew tabacco and she doesn't like me doing it. My dip cup was thrown all over my shower this morning with LIAR written on my shower door.

I could go on, there's many more instances where it's her way or the highway. I know my relationship is not like others and I wonder if she will ever find happiness because she is sure making everyone around her miserable.

I hope it gets better for you, life is too short to fight and fuss, we ony got one time to go around, get happy or get FREE IMO, I have a good Woman, this June will be 40 years of Marriage and we dated 3 years before that, we knew each other well before we tied the Knot, the Good Lord sent this woman to me as an answer to prayer, I am very BLESSED!!

A wise old man once told me "a woman will meet a man she considers flawed but will marry him anyway because she is sure she can fix (change) him.
A man will find a girl he thinks is perfect and will marry her because he is sure she won't Change...They are both wrong."

Thank you. We are right proud. :fine::fine: Life is good.

A few minutes ago I sent a PM to Mrs H22 about the pic she posted of them before they got married and how much it reminded me of old ones of me and my wife from 37 years ago. As I read farther into the thread I see they have a son that got married last October. Ours is getting married this October. Brought back a lot of memories and thoughts of those yet to come.

A year or so ago my son and his now fiance were talking about marriage and I relayed a story I was told by an older gent before I did the deed.

"A woman will marry a man who in her eyes is not perfect but she is sure she can change him....
A man marries a woman he believes is perfect and she will never change....
....They are both wrong !!!"

Unless you are willing to accept that, don't get married.

I'm sure those in the "Hornets Nest" will agree after 38 years there have been changes. Just remember, "the more things change, the more they stay the same."

I wonder what some of our ex would say about us. Probably not to good. It is amazing how 2 people see things so different.

Women will ALWAYS, whether it be former wife or present, ALWAYS see things different from men. Men are wired for Alternating current and have ground fault circuitry in place as a fail safe. Women are wired for direct current and short out very easily.

My ex lives in FL and works at Disney. She is getting us (me, the Barefoot Librarian and Not My Daughter) into Disney three days next week. We will be using the occasion to celebrate our fourth anniversary.
