Im a pretty experienced bow hunter and am gonna try my hand at bowfishing seems like a fun way to stay sharp and shoot bows when not in a tree, Got a new merc outboard and picked up a boat and trailer and working on gettin that all ready to go, besides "AIM LOW" any advice offered. What times of the year is most productive, and where to look for fish (will prolly be at Jackson lake alot) , and whats off limits to shoot, and whatcha all runnin for lights?

You can "start" with something as simple as a Q-beam for lights. Back when most of us started that was the norm.

Fish are still out, but it gets worse and worse with maybe Jan or Feb being the worst (muddy water and COLD). Some like Mar and April as that is when the carp spawn, but the water is still stained then. I think Aug is the prime time of yr to go.

As for fish to shoot... you can shoot anything except game fish. As for where to look, fish are in the backs of coves in the spring, then on the points and around islands in the fall. Like any kind of hunting, you simply have to put in the hours scouting to find those "flats" where and when the fish are hanging out.
