RE:What Calibers Do You Use To Deer Hunt Besides The More Popular One's?

My go to is a 22 hornet. That thing is a tack driver. Savage bolt made in the 50tys. It has a 22” barrel. That little center fire can put them down. I don’t shoot out past 150 yds with it.

I have a Ruger 77 that shoots 7m SAUM. I killed a few deer, My grandson killed a few does and his first buck this year with the rilfe.

Marlin 336 in 35 Rem. I've got a buncha deer rifles, and that's the one I grab the most. Just a lot of fun to hunt with and does a fine job.

Besides the usual 30-30, 30/06,308,270, 243, etc what calibers do you deer hunt with?

Also, if you shoot a lever action, some good calibers there.

44 mag, 12 gauge, 20 gauge, 45 ML, 45-60, 357.

Curious to know if you're hunting with an old Arisaka. I've read that they are actually very strong actions and a few years back I read about a guy that converted one to .338 Fed. His might have been a 7.7(?) and he used the original barrel, rebored.

Yes, original from WWII. My dad brought it home.

6.5s make me giddy

I recently acquired a 6.5 STW and have GA Precision making a 6.5 SAUM GAP 4S. I look forward to shooting those suckers at some distance.
