And I'm Live 1 more time before I go home for a turkey leg and to get a smooch and yell at the kids
I'm in a lockon in a small clover plot between hardwoods and cut corn and then the state road. It's called barb wire stand and I haven't hunted it since this time last year. The plot is surrounded by pushed over tree tops to give the deer security and me a screen getting in.
Scott is in his climber to the far south of here in hardwoods. This is where he misfired a couple days ago.
I'm at the blue dot and Scott is somewhere around the green X
It a freaking hot at 62 with a southern breeze straight out of Puerto Rico
JT a couple of us are looking to hunt the Midwest next year and have been looking at a couple different websites for property. Mainly base camp. How do you find the properties that y'all hunt, website or find some local farmers?
Wsm270...its huntstand lite. As close to perfect as possible.
Countryboy...weve used about everything to find property. Bubba stays glued to hunting lease and basecamp. Also some of the outfitters we've used have been helpful finding land. Land posted here and on Facebook and word of mouth.
A doe just stood up 60 yards away in the drain in front of me. Prolly more bedded there, but cant pick them out.
Buck just let out a roar or growl or whatever you want to call it. In the bottom and to my left. Still haven't seen a buck. Always cool to hear and last time I heard it was from the funky racked buck I smelled here r weeks ago.
For those that haven't been lucky enuf to hear it, I hope you get to one day. I've tried getting on film for years but you never know when it'll happen. Usually seems to happen right before a buck starts his chase. There's a couple examples on YouTube I think.
15 minutes max. Can't believe no deer up here with me
Man it's been a heckuva 5 weeks! I'm heading to the house tomorrow for a couple days and should get in a hunt or 2 in Indiana and then back here as quick as possible! Scott will be here for a couple more days before taking the Oregon trail home
Thx as always people, you all make my hunting much much more enjoyable and I truly appreciate you contributing your own hunts and following and commenting. Cannot say thx enough for allowing me to share these experiences whether good bad or indifferent.
