I found this at an old home site near my house. Any suggestions for cleaning it up a little? Obviously I don't want to do anything to damage it.

Soaking them in white vinegar will eat the rust away. Be careful, if they're rusted through, you won't have anything left!

My dad put a wrench that was solid brown in rust to soak in vinegar, It came out looking like a brand new wrench

Look up how to use electrolysis to remove rust. I found couple old bayonets and had a guy electrolysis and seal them he did great job. Charged me 50 bucks. Cool finds a lot stuff in the ground out there.
