I have wanted this very rifle for years, but for some reason or another it never happened. I always saw the .243 or the 7-08, then the other day I walked into a LGS that I have not set foot in for maybe 20 years and the guy had "the flight" Two 7-08's a .243 and ONE .308 Win. I actually got wishy washy for a day and my wife made me go back and get it. I picked up a Leup VXHog to top it off ( I may swap the VXHog for a Leup 1.5-5x20--I'm not real fond of the "Pig Plex-I prefer a clean cross hair)
All in all I couldn't be more pleased. The gun was manufactured in 83'[ but I would still grade it at about 90-95% easily. The wood has some normal wear but no scratches-dings and there is a couple of minor spots in the barrel but zero pitting. The iron sights are gone, but there is always Midway or Brownells; the rear sight holes have filler screws, so that may be the fate of the front sight holes. OK, so now for your experts to chime in and tell me what I got. $650 was the ticket, so I think he was in line and I may have gotten a better deal since it was a 308
