Help With Shotgun?

I have an old, rather beat up, Stoeger M2000 shotgun that I duck hunt with. In my last cleaning session I must have messed up something when removing the trigger assembly. Now the "Cartridge Drop Lever" (See Picture) does not function. Anytime I feed a shell into the tube, it immediately releases itself into place to be cycled. This prevents me from loading more than one shell unless I forcibly hold the shell in the tube while I load more behind it. I have googled and fiddled with the gun for a few days, but do not really know what to do. Any idea of how to fix it? (Not sure if I am posting this in the right place)

if you don't get a response here, you can try shotgunworld.com, the forum section. someone may have experience there as well.

I have an M2000 in my gunsafe, but rarely use it and haven't taken the trigger group out. I would get online and download the manual and look over the breakdown diagrams. Sounds like the cartidge drop lever spring (T12 in trigger diagram) is missing or not in place. The M3000 manual is used for the M2000 also.

Try youtube, I've had luck just watching folks clean the same gun as me and was able to pause it long enough to determine how things went.
