Been an unusually warm few days.
As tempted as it is, love to get my spring garden going, but I think we all know we likely will have one or two little cold snaps before spring truly sets in.

What do u think?

It seems like we get some of our nastiest winter weather in early March around here, not so much cold, but snow and rain and such. That said, it's supposed to hit 80° today - I'm guessing we may have another cold day or so, but winter is probably mostly done.

winter is not over, remember we had a blizzard on march 13th back in 93, and Ive seen 4 inches of snow in early april in Atlanta

I think most of the cold is gone, but I wouldn't start your summer crops just yet. The cooler mornings will keep the plants stunted until the soil temps start to rise. It might be 80 degrees, but a lot of it depends on the soil temps.

Good Friday is when it will be done at my house.

Not by a long shot. Our average last frost date here is May 10. It's earlier down there, but there is still winter to go yet. You would be be good probably with stuff like spinach, onions, lettuce, and such that will handle some frost.

Weather man just stated that a big cold front is on the horizon in the next two weeks so I wouldn't get started on planting anything just yet.

I'm planting but the difference is I honestly don't care about losing any of it yet, Easter isn't till April and a cold front is forcasted in the near future. I'd say this is more of an extended Indian summer and we have more freezes in-store for us. Hopefully it will hold off turning cold until I get back from Missouri.

I mowed out my spot this morning. It was planted in a fall foodplot mix. I'll Harrow it under and let it sit until Easter.

I had pollen on my truck yesterday. I grew up in Georgia and have never seen that in February before.

There is always a cold snap when the blackberries bloom. The bushes at my lease in Twiggs have leaves and those in my yard (Eatonton) are sprouting leaves. Blooms come two to three weeks later. I’m getting long in the tooth but the old timers always told me don’t do nothing till after blackberry winter. With that said spring will be early. Summer shortly thereafter.

Good Friday give or take a week for peas, etc. Potatoes, lettuce, carrots, radish and broccoli are already planted.

Not yet, I’m hoping a late frost doesn’t come and ruin the plum and peach crop again. Plum and pear are blooming at my casa.

We had several days of temps in the mid to high 70's this week and it felt great. I'm seeing some green grass in the yard (I mowed yesterday) and flowers and dogwoods blooming.

We shouldn't let that trick us. I remember the ice storm was in March of 1960. The snowstorm of 1993 was in March in our area. So March can be unpredictable when it comes to weather.

Your memory must be shot, it happened just last year.

Last year we had warm temps for a couple of days(23rd-24th)..This year we have had warm temperatures since the 16th. I didn't see any pollen this early last year. Maybe it's your memory.

Most of the old timers around here have always planted their warm season gardens around Good Friday, and I follow suit. No matter how warm the air temps are the plants won't grow well until the soil temps get right.
