A friend of mine has a toyota truck that blew the motor. It's an 87 i believe and has the 22r motor, but the motor he found for me to put in for him is a 20r. I know this motor had to come from a pre 80's truck or forklift but is the any major differences between them? Is this going to be a basic swap or will there be wiring, fuel, trans bolt up issues??

As long as it is the 22r motor, and not the 22re motor, you should be fine with the electrical, fuel etc etc.

Biggest thing is going to be how the tranny bolts up. Depending on what bellhousing you have, might be a little different.

Check out ih8mud.com and toyotanation.com for tons of info on motor swaps.

Those are the same engines, the deck height on the head is shorter on the 20R, and displacement is smaller. Some people put the 20 R head on a 22r for higher compression.
