Default Shotgun Fitment

I've got an 870 SuperMag that I shoot fairly well & has always been deadly on ducks for me. I bought an Xtrema2 a couple years ago & don't shoot it even half as well. Is this likely a fitment problem? Is it likely that it could be solved/helped with the shims etc that came with it. I also now have an SBE II on the way & would like to find someone who is genuinely knowledgeable that can help me get these correctly fitted to me. Can someone direct me to the man for the job???

This guy is good. He used to come around to some of the trap shoots in GA, don't know if he still does or not. I'd give him a call.

Pat Petterson in Phoenix City, AL is another great gun fitter that travels.

He should be at the NWTF Turkey shoot at the Meadows in Forsyth- August 20-22.

Probably the best in this region at the current time.

There will be several good gunfitters at the NWTF shoot mentioned above.

You can do this yourself by measuring the drop at comb and at the heel. Set the Remington upside down on a table so that the rib is parrallel with the table surface (let the sight bead hang off the end of the table). Measure the distance between the butt and the table surface - this is the drop at heel. Now do the same thing with the Xtrema. My guess is that it has less "drop" at heel, meaning the stock is "flatter".

The shims are relatively cheap, and sometimes you can get enough change in stock dimensions by reversing the one that's in the gun already to correct the problem - at least that worked for me in a Beretta 390. In my experience, shooters who "grew up" shooting American shotguns find that the European shotguns need more drop in the stock and a little "cast off" (we have fatter cheeks) to get their eyes behind the rib. You can buy shims for both those corrections.
