Default So, I think I'll be a Bokononist.

Now that I'm no longer an atheist.

Some assorted writings of Bokonon....

"Live by the foma (harmless untruths) that make you brave and kind and healthy and happy."

---------------------------
In the beginning, God created the earth, and he looked upon it in His cosmic loneliness.

And God said, "Let Us make living creatures out of mud, so the mud can see what We have done." And God created every living creature that now moveth, and one was man. Mud as man alone could speak. God leaned close as mud as man sat up, looked around, and spoke. Man blinked. "What is the purpose of all this?" he asked politely.

"Everything must have a purpose?" asked God.

"Certainly," said man.

"Then I leave it to you to think of one for all this," said God.

And He went away.

-----------------------------
Tiger got to hunt,
Bird got to fly;
Man got to sit and wonder, "Why, why, why?"

Tiger got to sleep,
Bird got to land;
Man got to tell himself he understand.

----------------------------------

Beware of the man who works hard to learn something, learns it, and finds himself no wiser than before. He is full of murderous resentment of people who are ignorant without having come by their ignorance the hard way.

Wow.. forgot all about this.

For whatever it's worth- don't get caught up in a granfalloon....you don't want to experience a pool pah.

Kurt Vonnegut is proof that insanity and genius reside in the same neighborhood.

KURT VONNEGUT! Did someone say Kurt Vonnegut? I just loved his Slauterhouse Five. I recall discussing his main caracter seeing Saint Elmo's fire everywhere--after a fight with other prisoners I believe.

I suggested to the teacher that he had a nervous breakdown--and that people with nervous breakdowns see things like that! LOL

My teacher's father was a prisoner of war ( for real) who escaped Dresden on the top a speeding away train when the british firebombed it --to the roots of the streets--because the Furrher bombed Oxford.

Kurt Vonnegut was one of the few sane individuals in an insane world. He knew a few thing way better than most or at least ahead of most. He knew for example that some individuals might come back from fighting a war with all limbs intact, but inside they could be irrepairbly broken in spirit and for this society was marked. And for this insight alone, I know him as an out of the box Saint.
