Some Scraps for the Fancy Eatin' Table

I had a few scraps laying around.

So with a little help from my lathe and Elmers, they don't look like scraps anymore.
I used Pecan, Purpleheart, Walnut, and Paduak to make this pepper mill.
I am making three more for a lady in Dahlonega. I hope they all turn out as nice as this one.

Burl E., I probably need to talk with you. I am thinking about getting into flyrods, but don't have a wood lathe (have a cork lathe). I will have to buy wooden reel seats, buy a lathe, or find somebody locally to make 'em for me.

those look real good.
I 've decided to get a lathe after seeing all your stuff. I haven't turned anything since Industrial Arts in high school (a program they should return to schools, imo), but I turned a good bit back then, fern stands, furniture legs, and made a four post bed we still use today.
Are the craftsman lathes decent?
