My boy closed the deal on a good one yesterday. Closed the deal at 9:45 am. My son has worked hard for a few seasons now to lay down his first big gobbler. He has missed a bird when he was 7 years old, took a jake at 9 and had many a morning where we had no action at all but he continued to stick with it. It paid off.
Had a few birds working at daylight that had lady friends so we pivoted to another area and struck this guy. He slow played us with only a few gobbles here and there to let us know he was still around and came in quiet to some soft clucks. My boy made a great 30 yard shot with his 20 gauge and laid down this nice mature gobbler. Appears to be a 3 yr old bird. Used a bronze glass pot call made by Lonnie Mabry
