Oh man. It is happening right now. Just had a big, high rack buck run a doe from a totally different direction. Never a clean shot.

Final update: I’ll start by saying a huge thank you to Jeff Andrews and his dog copper for giving their all to track down my buck. From the last place I found blood and the last place Jeff found. Blood was about 300 yards apart with no blood in between. We decided to call it off. It is very comforting to know that the shot I made would not make that deer suffer and that he will most likely live although it would be even more comforting knowing he is in the bed of my truck. This was the first deer I have lost I know it won’t be my last. You can’t win them all and I know he’ll be back next year.
