I looked at some trees in Jackson County last weekend. Red Oaks and White Oaks along field edges had acorns there are starting to fill out. I would say 50% of the trees I checked had acorns. I didn't venture into the woods away from the field edges.
I'm in pickens county and some of mine are already dropping. I thought it was kind of early, but there they are. Unless the squirrels are dropping them from above.
Seems the acorn crop will be less this year. Trees have acorns but not very many. WRC completed their acorn survey last week and said it's not looking good
We have a pretty good acorn crop in Southern Carroll County. Reds are already dropping some good ones. Water Oaks are loaded down, especially along the River.
Above 1400 ft gets scarce. Only in certain elevation ranges have them loaded. And then it's no guarantee. Have to put eyes on a spot and see but 100 ft changes everything.
