Anchor

#2
If you are reef fishing and anchor off the structure a sand anchor and 100 ft of rope will do, if you anchor in the structure a reef anchor is the trick. We build ours from a piece of pipe and rebar, if it sticks just pull with the boat and rebar straightens out and comes free, then bend into shape again.

If you're going to be anchoring offshore, familiarize yourself with the terms "rode" and "scope".

It's really more important than type of anchor.
Don't forget the chain.

Length and weight of your chain has everything to do with the anchor sticking ... IMHO ... I don’t particularly care for reef anchors ... just haven’t had much success using them and I hate the idea of ripping off parts of the growth on the structures.
