Boot spur find

My wife bought me a metal detector for Christmas. I finally got to go out and use it this weekend behind the house. Within an hour of looking, I was lucky enough to dig this up. Experts on a civil war message board tend to agree this is pre Civil war but could have been used by a Confederate.

Useles Billy’s Fishel Hog Killer ?
I need to get me a metal detector. I run up on so many old home sites that look interesting and out in the middle of no where.

It is very addictive. You will be surprised at the things you'll dig up.

By the way, keep those old homesites to yourself.

Roger that. You can tell the ones that have been found. Theres usually little piles of random metal junk here and there. You know there has to be coin/gold stash in these here hills.

Cool find! Not sure of the era but the horse that was riddin didn't need a lot of coaxing. Spurs are also used to keep a rider attached to a horse at full run. Which is why the ball type were made to begin with. The movies made cutting spurs popular.
