there are certain things you can do to save the battery. Turn off GPS and Wifi when not needed for starts.

This sounds more like a flaw in the phone itself, not the carrier. AT&T does not make the phones.

We just moved into a new home and went with the AT&T fiber. They claim speeds to 1GBPS but I am seeing around 760MBS....still blazing fast. Worth every penny to me since I work from home a few days a week.

I tried just going to streaming at our second home in TN. Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Sling subscriptions with an OTA hooked to a Tableu box. All was fine except that the Sling TV had no DVR option or view on demand. I am used to recording multiple sporting events at once and then watching them that way to eliminate commercial breaks. That was the part that killed me most.

Until they have a sports streaming service that contains a good and reliable DVR or watch on demand function then I am going to keep paying DirecTv an arm and a leg.

We dropped cable TV about a year ago.

Monthly costs
$50 - Cable for internet only
$9 - Amazon Prime
$10 - Netflix, allows 2 screens
$12 - Hulu, no commercials, well a lot less
$6 - CBS all access
Free - Youtube, Twitch, over the air TV

Total = $87

One time cost:
$160 - 60 mile omni-directional HD antenna with booster (Mohu Sky)
$80 - 2x Roku Express equivalent (not 4k)
$20 - misc. cable and splitters

We also use a PS4 and Apple TV on the system, but they aren't really absolutely needed. If you do not have a wireless router ($100), you will need that and potentially a booster ($80).

We have Uverse as well. Yup....the $$ sucks, but every year, I call them saying I'm leaving and I can usually get $20 or so off. We have a similar setting to you on the TV, also have the fastest internet and phone included and pay $170 a month.

We tried Charter for about a month to save roughly $30 per month. Their DVR service was awful. Went back to Uverse. Sometimes, it's worth the extra $30. :D
