Cedar Key Florida

Poor Poor Fisherman

Never been to Cedar Key area of Florida. We are planning a trip there in late October or early November. We hear a lot of very encouraging things about it. We do have a lot of experience at Steinhatchee and Port St. Joe over the last 10 or so years however. Any tips on what we can expect? What sort of lures and presentation work best?

Suggestions and your experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.....

Watch your tides and winds and fish the exact same lures you would at Steinhatchee. Redfish all around the islands and trout on the grass flats. Inside ramp for small boats and outside ramp for big boats. Parking is limited so get there early. It is a launch and pay ramp scenario and it is enforced.

watch your depth! when your fishing those little islands you can run up on a sandbar pretty darn quick. We fish over there 4-5 times a year. Mullet, mullet shaped lures, mullet flavored lures...did I mention mullet? If you are planning on hiring a guide I'd recommend Capt Danny Allen 352-215-3686 that time of year you should be able to slay the reds...they don't get as big over there as they do here in Jax but the numbers make up for it
