Cerakote Barrel

Will cutting a Cerakote finished barrel ruin the Cerakote finish? Reason I am asking is I am considering a new rifle purchase. Once the rifle is purchased I want to have the 24" barrel shortened to about 20" and threaded. The rifle is available in polished stainless and stainless Cerakoted configurations. I really like a Cerakote finish vs a polished stainless finish.Obviously it will be more cost effective to purchase the Cerakoted rifle and have it shortened than to purchase the stainless, have it cut, and then Cerakoted.

What I mean by "ruin " is, would the Cerakote chip on the edge where the barrel is cut? Can Cerakote finishes by "touched up" or repaired like paint finishes?

It is very likely to chip around the cut.

Thanks, that what I suspected. I'll go with the stainless version, get the barrell cut and threaded, then Cerakoted.
