Later in the morning, Heckford said ex-lineman Matt Branch was accidentally hit by a blast from his shotgun, which he had left loaded in the bed of his pickup truck.

Heckford said a Labrador named Tito jumped onto the truck bed, “stepped on the safety of Branch’s shotgun and pulled the trigger.” He said the 12-gauge shotgun shell tore through the side of the truck and hit Branch’s left thigh.

Never under estimate a cold, wet dog.

It's not that hard to unload and reload a shotgun. Cautionary tale about always having control of your loaded gun.

He didnt get shot by a dog, he shot himself by leaving his gun loaded sitting around pointing in a terrible direction apparently. Accidents happen but proper gun safety would have avoided this.

It was a chihuahua. Went for the leg.

I just want to know how the dog "pulled" the trigger. He should have trained it to squeeze the trigger.

Dog got tired of eating homework and wanted to hunt for himself.

It is these type incidents that come to mind while I go handling a gun or launching a boat that seem to help prevent stupid mistakes.facepalm:

Wonder what they were thinking about?

That's the problem. They weren't thinking.

They also didn't care about the finish on the gun, laying it down on the bed of a truck.
