Duvals

Bow Only

Here is one of the best Duval cases in existence. I wish they were Paleos, but they'll have to do. The key point characteristics for Duvals is a diamond or rhomboid cross section. There are many tang configurations for Duvals and their makers weren't usually going for appearance when they made these points. Woodland people in general were more concerned with function than they were appearance of their lithics. These weren't your Hernando making people. Note the change in point size to smaller points from the previous cultures. This most definitely reflects the addition of the bow and arrow to their culture. This caused an increase in food availability and a population increase. This is why there are so many Woodland sites compared to Deptford or Transitional sites.

Edit: There are some Taylors and Jacksons in this case as well, but many Duvals.

very nice, so some of those points would be as young as 1300 yrs old or so in conjunction with the bow and arrow's introduction?
