On select WMA’s with a rifle yes, check the regs and look to see if it states the WMA is closed for hog/coyote hunting. If it does not state the WMA is closed for this special “season” then it is open. That is my understanding.

Thank you sir. Deer and turkey season were bust need some meet in the freezer

All of em are open, unless it specifically says no coyote feral hog season in the wma info. Most all of em are open for it

I’ve been on a couple of wma’s trout fishing. Took my gun and thought I might hunt the late evening. The gates that were open last year are closed this year. It’s in the mid 90’s this week, and I can’t help but think participation on this hunt in the mountains will be extremely low? I have no desire to walk 1-3 miles to get to decent hunting with temps in the 90’s, then have to worry about hurrying up to debone and pack meat to avoid spoilage. What’s the point? I’ll just fish.

I spent all day Tuesday along the river and creeks in Ocmulgee. 7 hours hiking and it was awefully hot! Lots of fresh sign but I didn't find any pigs. I found a good spot along the river with a bit of a high spot overlooking a creek bottom and wallo. I think I will sit and watch that spot tomorrow morning and pull out around 11 am unless there is some action.

You sign in? Tried online, and it wouldn’t let me. Went by the check station and some DNR ladies researching bat acoustics had to find the sheet for me. I left it outside in case anyone else tries to sign in. It was extremely hot Weds evening. Saw deer, hen with poults, no pigs, and my go to spot was pretty thin on sign.

I was unable to sign in online and there was noone at the check station.
Does Ocmulgee require a hunter to sign in and/or check in? Looking online its hard to tell

You would think they would still want to keep up with folks in the woods. Not sure why the state wouldn’t be interested in how many people are participating in these hunts.

Having a big gun pig hunt this time of year really doesn't seem productive. I'm thankful for the opportunity but big gunnin the mountains on memorial day weekend with the crowds pouring in to hike, camp, fish ect just seems a lil' off to me.

I took full advantage of the opportunity that this season provided. My career gives me 240 days off every year, so I get to hunt a lot. I got to go on 8 different days during the hog/coyote season, the first 6 were uneventful. ALOT of walking and scouting went into it just to find where they were. It’s wasn’t easy and it was miserably hot. The last 2 trips we have been in them pretty good. We learned a lot in the last 2 weeks.
We saw 5 on Tuesday and a sounder of 10-12 today. My buddy got a shot off at one of them today, but we never found sign of a hit. 2 weeks of work for 2 hogs was just fine with us!
We’ll be back after them come August 15th.
