Hand Trading Company, Pelham, Ga.

I never knew this big store existed. I guess I've never been to Pelham. I've been down hwy19/300 a few times on the way to the gulf.

It was modeled after Marshall Field's Department Store in Chicago, IL Mr Hand went there and decided to build a big store in Pelham.
Pretty fancy on the inside too with a rotunda open to the dome.

Remember going in there as a kid. They had everything.
Rumor was they had a tunnel from the building to their house.Part of the house is at Calloway Gardens.

Do a little research this some interesting history of south ga.
