Heading to Townsend this weekend

How high do I need to go to find fish this time of year. Stockers or native- I just need to feel a trout on my little 4-weight before this year is over. Recent health issues have kept me out of streams for two years now. I need to see, feel, and experience redemption.

You shouldn't have to go too far up. We fished the other side of the park a week or so ago and caught fish pretty much everywhere. The lower elevations got slow in the afternoon, but the mornings were on fire. At what I would call middle elevation the bite was on all day.

Most of the creeks are still fishing good. Water flows are low and clear, so you have to be really sneaky and have a good presentation. The higher you go, probably the better fishing, but the fish get smaller. If I was in Townsend this weekend, I would probably hit the Middle Prong Little River (Tremont) early in the morning and head on upstream to Lynn Camp or Thunderhead prongs in the afternoon.
