I don't understand the purpose of the half barrel under the tube? Why not just have it pour out onto the ground.

I’ve tried a few styles of homemade feeders and so far only found one that is squirrel proof, coon proof, hog proof and weather proof.
Made this out of a 10” diameter stainless chimney pipe and chimney cap. The legs and spinner came off a plastic moultrie that didn’t last 6 months before squirrels chewed a big hole in it.
I have plenty of scrap chimney pipe and caps in a pile behind shop if anyone in the area wants to make their own.
