A good many of these made it past the shotgun seasons where I hunt in Illinois.

Hope they prosper through the season this year...

Added a few extra pics also.

That looks like a Rio. Rio’s in Illinois??
Just never seen an Eastern with the blond/buff colors.

I have no idea when it comes to turkeys.

Just liked the way he was puffed up.

West central Illinois.

I’m with Mark, very odd plumage on that Tom. Might have some barn yard or western lineage. Fine looking bucks too!

I'm originally from Ohio and was there when the restocking of the wild Turkey started in the 60's. Not all birds were true Easterns. Some were Eastern/Rio mix. Early on you would see that buff color in the tail bands but with time the birds became more of a truer Eastern with the chestnut bands. Every once and awhile one will be harvested with the light buff in the tail but not many.

One of the buck fights lasted 24 minutes and took dozens of pics. Had more fight sequences this year than ever before - not sure if that is purely coincidental or not.

We are adding some ground this year so looking forward to camera surveys on the new farms.

At my main farm, I have been there several years and have some camera spots that I know work pretty well.

Flying up in September and will read cards again, should help ID some players for the 2019 season

November will be here before we know it!
