Haha tell the whole family to keep their butts at home. My family was sued by one of my good friends because of a 15mph car accident I had at 16. We went out all weekend laughing about it. Monday he showed up at school with a neck brace

That's why we carry an umbrella liability insurance policy.

I pay about $200 a year and if anybody decides to sue, the insurance company and their lawyers fight the claim.
You can't pick their friends, but you can protect yourself from their parents.

That mom has serious mental problems she's dealing with , her child probably needs a good friend , think hard before you cut her loose , most people will sue you if they can but just don't tell you in advance .

Wife and I were talking the other day and she reminded me about this incident

Friend of ours whose daughter and mine were friends from church wanted to play together one day so they did. Also their daughter would at times go to town with us to get groceries etc they were about 6-8 years old.

One day her mom and my wife were talking about this and the mother tells my wife “well if y’all have a car wreck or something happens while she’s at your house I’m going to sue you. Even if it’s an accident”

Of course our answer to this was we suddenly didn’t have time to have her kid over into our House or go places with us. But how can you just flat out tell a FRIEND that you already planned to sue them if something Happens to your kid ?

This mom is VERY overbearing and controlling of her kids and their daily life for what it’s worth.

No worries. Her daughter can still come to your house as long as her mama brings her. If it's an outing - "We'll meet you there." The kids shouldn't be punished because one adult is full moron.

Don't be fooled, she's not a friend. She warned you.....better take heed. Cut all ties before it costs you. You need to explain it to your daughter, maybe later on in life.

Certainly tactless and boorish on her part but at least she was honest. I think most people are condition today to believe someone else is liable if their little daring is injured. They sue schools if their child is hurt on the playground why should you be different?

This is why we have insurance and why the rates are so high. I would have probably said something along the lines that I hope nothing happens but I'm insured in the event it does and by the way from here on out I'll bring my child to your house to play.

Tape and video record her saying this without her knowing. In Georgia, all you need is 1 party consent to record. Let her child come over, it's not their fault, you will be punishing them and your child by losing a good friend. If the accident ever plays out and she tries to sue, present the recording to the court. Sad day when you have to resort to things like this, but you have to protect yourself.

My daughter fell off the dome jungle gym thing at her elementary school and broke her arm years ago.. the principle had the dang thing removed. I couldn’t believe it. Dumbest thing I’d ever heard of. Suing never crossed our mind..nor did having the jungle gym uprooted.

Make it really simple don’t let your kids sleep at anybody’s house and they only ride with you when they are a little
