Hunting Hogs on a WMA

Hey, I am new to hunting public land and I want to get into hog hunting. I was just curious if you could hunt them year round on public land or if there was a designated time to do so. Thanks!

Not year round , small game season with small game weapons , deer season with big game weapons , Turkey season with turkey weapons , I’d highly recommend a Georgia hunting regulations book , u can get them for free at most Walmart at the counter in the sporting goods department, go kill a few !

Download yourself a PDF version and you can use Ctrl-F to find what ever you are looking for much easier than digging through 100 pages. Although I do highly recommend reading the thing cover to cover, especially since you are new to public land hunting. There are tons of hidden gems and information in there.

Everything antharper said is correct, but each WMA is unique and has its own dates and restrictions so you should absolutely read the section on the one you plan to hunt. Combine it with the new interactive map on the DNR website and you can plan exactly when and where to go on your hog hunt.

Good luck.

What they said. Some WMA's have hog hunt, usually its not until the middle of May when its a 100 frickin degrees outside. Most WMA's will allow you to hunt hogs any time there is a open hunting season using the weapons allowed for that season. A example of this is small game season on WMA's you would have to use say a rim fire gun or shot gun, no large game rifles would be allowed.

To get all the details follow their advice and get a copy of the hunting guide or check out the Eregs.
