I “had” 1 with no fawns this year

So she had no milk? My general rule is if she’s by herself she has one too small to keep up and she puts it down to wait. A doe with fawns, to me, means they are old enough to feed on their own.

No milk at all. All the fawns in my place we’re early born this year and almost out of spots. Last year was the opposite, very strange to me.
I watch them in cameras and pick the doe with no fawns to shoot every year. I haven’t killed a buck on the property yet. Just doing my part to lower the doe to buck ratio. Maybe one day I’ll see a decent buck this way.

We had a lot of early born fawns as well, but every year I’ll see one in spots the week of Thanksgiving, lol. And like you, most are out of their spotted coat, but still have few that you can definitely see.
