The NFL brand has taken a big hit over the anthem issue, and I thought the new policy was a good idea for both sides. The owners look like they actually discovered a backbone by putting in the new rule. And the players don't have to cave in and do something that they don't believe in by standing on the field and showing respect to the flag and anthem...if they wish, they can just stay in the locker room. And by staying in the locker room they are still sending a message, just a more subtle one and not an in-your-face message.

Neither side gets EXACTLY what they wanted, but both sides save face.

But the players seem intent on digging themselves deeper in the hole. Either they are supremely arrogant, or they are too stupid to see what they are doing. They need to stop digging and move on.
