Looks to me like Knox chert from east TN. I find a lot of stuff around here made from it.

No, Knox chert is the material it appears to be made from. As to type, my guess would be a late-stage unfinished Woodland-era stemmed point of some type. Probably around 2,000-1,000 years old.
