Help solve an argument between me and a buddy. When sighting in a rifle/ muzzleloader if you are hitting low on the target, do you move your rear sight up or down to bring the bullet up. Thanks for any help

You move it the opposite of impact. If you're hitting low, you raise the back site... Hitting high, you lower it.

lots of folks get confused with open sight adjustments but they are easy to remember

move the rear sight the way you WANT the bullet to move

if your hitting low on the target then move the rear sight UP to bring the bullet up also

Take Care,

Very simple illustration. Make a peace sign with one hand and hold the index finger of your other hand so that it cuts through the center of the "V". Now move the V up until your index finger just disappears. Now in order to get the same "sight picture" you had seconds ago what do you have to do? Move the index finger (barrel) up! See simple.
