When I was a youngun and we had a fall turkey season, I was the dog. I`d scatter them then set with Daddy while he called em back. I wish we still had a fall season here.
Id'a just shot them before I scattered them. :bounce:

Old Indian trick, turkey are more easily scattered than shot. There are Many eyes in a flock. Scattered they aren't as formidable.

Most of the time when you scattered them, they were out of shotgun range.

If it was an old hen with bunch of young birds, those young turkeys would about run into your lap when you called to em. I`ve even whistled them back up. If it was a group of old gobblers, that was a different story. An adult gobbler in the Fall is the hardest critter in the swamp to try to kill.
