It just occurred to me......

The left wing liberal dem party who are now for late term abortion, even after birth, is the same party that in the 60's were spitting on our returning soldiers & calling them baby killers.

Yep, and I'll never forget that as long as I live.

Most of those young men were thrown into a War that most had no idea why we were even fighting it. Despite the fact it was supposedly to stop the spread of Communism, at least that's what I remember.

There was much more to it than that, I'm sure, but I'm no War History buff so I can't intelligently elaborate on the reasons we were there.

I didn't have time to become one at that point either, I almost had to go myself.

I just know that it sickened me the way they were treated when returning.

Friend of mine's Brother-in-Law was there. Killed a lot of NVA and Charlie.

He didn't seem to mind talking about it or even if you asked him a question, he would answer it.

He got hit by Agent Orange
Had to have oxygen 24/7 for 6 or so years. He was only 62 when he died. He always joked about what he wanted his wife to do with his body when he died. He knew for a while his days were numbered.

I don't think I would want to last that long. Few days notice to make peace with my family and my Maker would be good though.

I didn’t serve in country but was just starting my career at the tail end of the war. I have had flowers stuck in my uniform pocket by Harikrishna and told I’d be forgiven. Spent many weekends fighting with college kids climbing over the base fences. The SDS would come to town stir the college kids up then leave and let the rioters get the knots on their heads.

Those kids are the Dems of today I’m sure.

I was never closer to Nam than floating through the very Eastern edge of the declared Theater of Operations (northeast of the PI) - and that just long enough for everyone to get free postage. I remember the end of that cruise well. With orders in hand transferring me to Pensacola, I left from San Diego. I had to fly to LA to have a chance at a same day flight that would get me to an airport with military aviation or a civ flight to Pensacola.

In those days military standby required "fly in uniform." The LA terminals were crowded with mean, yelling, smelly, and very angry people attacking anyone in uniform. Fortunately, the ugly protestors were also pretty stoned or just incompetent. I had stuff thrown at me, people spit at me, vile things shouted at me. At one point, I used my duffel to block several unopened soda cans from missing me and hitting several stewardesses trying to get past. And that's how a bunch of mean, smelly, nasty Vietnam protestors got me a first class ride - real first class, fancy food, drinks and all - with the kind attentions of all 5 stews on board.

I am also pretty sure those vile jerks throwing stuff and cursing are now "leaders" in the California Demoncrap Party.

you're right - i've known a few people that died from agent orange and they were all in early 60's- my dear friend and cousin said he got covered up twice while over there . he had a list of things wrong w/ him ( a whole page typed) they told them it was OK. he suffered for his last few years . he was my last hunting partner . my brother and i both barely missed it .

Hmm so all these "pot is good threads" have given us the new demorat party..... Cause all those stoned, unwashed, stinking hippies are mostly now in charge of or gave birth to the demorats in office today.

They would have spit on me too. If I was in Vietnam, I would have killed anything that moved that wasn't an American.

They are the party of pure evil.

To ALL VETS !

Lot of names on here to quote every post.. BUT..

I did not serve in the military. My small role in support was programming CNC machines and making parts for munitions.

The one I was most involved in was the AGM-114 II HE*LLFIRE Air to Ground anti-armor missile for Lockheed. (long story)
This post is not about me so we can discuss later.

I WANT TO THANK EVERY VETERAN FOR THEIR SERVICE, My late Father included. IF NOT FOR ALL OUR SUPERIOR MILITARY PERSONNEL WE WOULD NOT HAVE THE GREATEST COUNTRY THE WORLD HAS EVER KNOWN !

From me and most of the American Citizens, WE THANK AND LOVE ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN THAT RISK THEIR LIFE So the rest of us are protected ! THANK YOU X A MILLION. 💝💕

To save Viet Nam for the French after WWII. As far as them helping us in our revolution against England we have more than squared our account and now they owe us but they will never pay up.

Yes sir, I remember the French Foreign Legion being entrenched there for years before we got heavily involved. They twisted and turned every conceivable reason we should go to Nam as best I can recall.

Really I was too young to pay much attention to all that hogwash until I got up to about 17 yrs old and they were still there. By that time, I had to start listening to WHY I may wind up over there myself. None of it made much sense to me at the time.

I didn't know it at the time but my dad had me a one way ticket to Vancouver reserved. He was a WWII combat vet. Him and his contemporaries knew the Viet Nam war was bovine scat. He figured a couple of infantry divisions with proper air and arty support could burn the whole country down and kill everybody in it in about two weeks. He knew that was so because he had participated in doing exactly that against a real enemy just a few years before. He was determined the politicians would not turn his son into "cannon fodder". In the meantime he made sure I went to an all boys high school that featured Air Force JROTC 24/7/365, just in case.

I did two years of AFROTC at UGA and at the end of my Sophomore year I went to sign my papers but I wanted to be a fast mover pilot. Viet Nam was winding down and they didn't need pilots but they did need quartermaster officers. I said no thanks, I'll pass.

One real fact about Kennedy's escalation of the Vietnam conflict, was that - AFTER the French packed up and went home - there really was an elected, somewhat democratic, government in South Vietnam starting in 1955. There was also a viscous, violent, murdering, dictator running a "socialist" regime in North Vietnam. Mao and Stalin worked together to put radical Ho Chi Minh in power, helped him murder all opposition, and provided all the supplies and manpower needed to overrun South Vietnam.

The war over a divided Vietnam is probably the first instance of the growing globalist nature of the UN interfering with member countries attempting to stop war. The UN intentionally partitioned Vietnam into North and South but refused to support or defend either nation. The UN even sanctioned the USA for trying to defend the elected government of the UN created South Vietnam.

Should the US have gotten involved? Certainly NOT to fight in the half-baked way we did. OTOH, a fledgling government, opposed to mass murderers Mao, Ho Chi Min, and Stalin, was trying to establish a new nation on land granted them by supposedly global acclaim. Did the Democrats Kennedy and Johnson screw it up - totally, completly, and thoroughly!

By the end of the 60s, I am certain we were no longer capable of winning simply because the people of South Vietnam no longer believed we were on their side. Johnson's war was just killing kids with no goal in mind.

It's actually quite interesting reading back on some of the History in that conflict, now that I'm not 17-18 years old, and only had one thing on my mind at that time, and in or just out of High School. :p

Too be honest, I just did not have the desire to go and try to survive in a jungle. I've always felt that would be one the most difficult environments to have to survive in. Many advantages, but probably many more disadvantages. If the Viet Cong didn't kill me the jungle probably would have.

I just missed getting into that conflict, but the draft ended just before I turned 18.

I had a couple of pen pals that were army guys stationed over there.

I even got in a fight with a hippy that was at the airport here waiting to protest the return of a friend of mine. He was the first, but doubtfully the last, snowflake whose day I ruined. He saw my sign welcoming my friend home and wallowed up like he was going to spit on me. I rammed his puckered lips so far back, that I think they became his new lower exit lips. One of his buddies was loud until that guy went down like a stone. Funny, but he decided not to confront me anymore. My friend's mother hugged my neck. A cop that was there shook my hand.

That war was our second politically perverted "war". Korea was the first.

My dad didn't have any plane reservations, but as a physician, he was ready to get me disqualified medically, because he too, thought that Nam was wrong.

While Kennedy escalated, LBJ blew the top off of it and then tried to politically micromanage it.

Not to be outdone, Nixon at the end did the same. The leaders of North Vietnam admitted that they were whipped and quite surprised by the terms of the "treaty".

We have forgotten how to go to war. WWII showed how to win. Kill'em all until they don't want to fight you anymore.

My hat has always been off to those who have served and it still is!
